An exploration of labor, collective units, and gestural engagement, the project transforms a blank wall with 3,000 pieces of inkjet-coated DuPont Tyvek®, forming a modular field across two downtown parking garage facades. Installed over four days, each piece reflects the city’s collective efforts to revitalize the downtown core.

Fusing sport and art, the installation channels the speed, strategy, and spatial tension of soccer through a bold checkerboard grid. Sixty-five white DuPont Tyvek® squares—each 2 × 2 feet and tough enough for the elements—wrapped both sides of the court wall to form a double-sided backdrop for Street Soccer PDX’s inaugural Laundry Open Cup, the culminating tournament of the Summer 2024 LNDRY Street Circuit. The pattern echoes both the precision of play and the geometry of the city, linking the game to the streets and communities that power it.
