What began as an exercise to reimagine the existing PMA logo as a storefront design became another exploration of modular design. This custom branded mural for the local historic preservation firm Peter Meijer Architects, PC, draws directly from the logo’s shapes and lines, repurposing them into a distinctly branded façade intervention.
With the building already painted green and the door a striking red, I worked with these existing elements to activate the façade. The mural functions as signage without competing with the architecture itself. Located in a residential neighborhood, the design blends seamlessly with the surrounding context while introducing my modular aesthetic in a bold yet restrained way.
One of my favorite aspects of creating public art is the act of making it in public. Passersby stopped to chat, and I got to know the neighbors. Many asked whether the business inside was new - despite PMA having occupied the space for years. In this way, the mural serves as a visual marker and a catalyst for connection.
